The Magical Mystery of Textiles with Jacqui Hilson Lauren Roberts

Textile artist Jacqui Hilson weaves together not only fabric, but a beautiful display of colour, texture, and history. Pulling from her Nigerian, British, and Celtic connections, Jacqui finds a way to use her sewing machine to paint imaginative and deeply moving pieces. In her own words, ‘Art is a connector for people,’ and she looks for avenues for others to connect with what she expresses.

Jacqui covers many topics in this interview including how peri-menopause gave her the drive to go after what she is doing now; how deadlines can cause her to disconnect from her work; and the wondrous and thrilling process of getting “an image that is IN my head, OUT of my head, and ONTO this piece of work!” She fittingly describes that process as a “magical, mystery tour”.

Listen in to hear how she got started on creating with this medium and what her creative process looks like.
